Common questions

Can I really keep using my spreadsheet?

+

Yes! Upload your existing CSV or Excel file each quarter. TaxBridge maps your columns to HMRC's categories and submits for you. You don't need to change how you track your figures.

Is TaxBridge HMRC approved?

+

Yes. TaxBridge is HMRC-recognised Making Tax Digital software. We connect directly to HMRC's official API to submit your quarterly updates.

What if I make a mistake in a submission?

+

No worries. MTD quarterly updates are cumulative — your Q2 submission covers the whole year to date, so any errors in Q1 are automatically corrected. You can also amend previous submissions.

Do I still need an accountant?

+

For most sole traders, TaxBridge handles everything you need for MTD. If you have complex affairs (multiple income sources, capital gains, etc.), an accountant can still help with tax planning — but TaxBridge handles the HMRC submissions.

What are the Making Tax Digital (MTD) quarterly deadlines?

+

For the 2026-27 tax year: Q1 by 7 August 2026, Q2 by 7 November 2026, Q3 by 7 February 2027, Q4 by 7 May 2027. Final Declaration by 31 January 2028.

Is my data safe?

+

Absolutely. All data is encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption. Your HMRC credentials and National Insurance number are encrypted at rest. We never store your Government Gateway password.
